Jason's mom and dad came up this past weekend and we had such a great time!
Friday they got into town and we went out to Legends Outlet Mall for some shopping and dinner. They have such great shopping there! We went to eat dinner at this place we've never eaten at before - Stixx. It was sooo good! They had hibachi, sushi and different chinese food, which is great for me because I am not a big fan of sushi so I loved the options. Eric had some free tickets to the MMA fights out by Legends so we went out there and as soon as we walked into the stadium it started pouring rain!! And it was an outdoor fight! We just called it a night since they had to get up early.
Saturday Eric, Kristi and Jason went to the Pinnacle Chiropractic Seminar all day so I just relaxed and waited for them to get done. Once they were finished we went to the Plaza - my FAVORITE place here! They had a really cool art fair going on, which I think we'll try and go to next year since we just found out about it. We met up with Jason's aunt and uncle for dinner at Baja 600. They have such awesome food!!
Sunday they had to go back to the seminar until noon and then went to brunch at First Watch - another one of my favorite places! Then we went back out to Legends for some more shopping before we had to drop them off at the airport.
It was just a great weekend! We love it when people come to visit! It was fun to spend time with Eric and Kristi!

Trip to Connecticut
After 7 years we finally made it back to Connecticut! We left KC on Thursday morning but not without a few snags. We left our house at 5:15 a.m. to catch our 7:30 flight only to find out it had been delayed an hour. So we finally boarded the place only to be stuck due to technical problems. We finally got off the ground around 11 and luckily got a new connecting flight out of Atlanta. By the time my aunt Michelle and cousin Quincy picked us up we were worn out!! After dinner at their newly renovated house we crashed!
Friday we took Quincy to the orthodontist and to get her a new pair of tennis shoes and then just ran around town with my aunt. It was kind of chilly the entire time we were there so I was glad I brought my favorite hoodie!! Friday night we just had dinner at the house - such yummy fresh veggies! Saturday we borrowed one of their cars and drove into Massachusetts to go shopping in a little town, Great Barrington. We were able to get through the entire shopping area in about 30 minutes! That is how small it was. Then we just drove around Massachusetts and Connecticut - finally stopping at a Chili's for dinner. Michelle, Star and Quincy had a wedding to go to so we just snuggled up on the couch to watch our OSU Cowboys in their season-opener. Not a very good game at all!
Sunday we were so busy with Michelle! We started at the Norfolk, CT historical society, which was actually very interesting. Then we went over to Toby Pond and hiked around the water for about 45 minutes. It was such a beautiful day and for the first time since our arrival I was able to take off my hoodie and not be freezing! From the Pond we met up with Uncle Star to go to the Norfolk library for an art show. The artist was of course someone my aunt and uncle knew - they seem to know every single person in town! The library is absolutely gorgeous! I wish we would have taken pictures of the inside. From the library we went to a BBQ/Picnic and at a beautiful house in Norfolk. Lots of new people to meet and some great food! I think we just ate our way through Norfolk! After a few hours there we went to the after party from the art showing. This was the MOST AMAZING home we had ever been to! It was extremely old but had mahogany beams all throughout the great room, which was right as you entered. Very beautiful artwork was everywhere! There were so many different little rooms and even some secret passageways. And, of course, some good food!
After about 12 hours of traveling (layovers are not fun!) we finally made it home yesterday and we are exhausted! But it was such a wonderful vacation and I was so happy to spend some quality time with my family. I love visiting their house - there is such a peaceful feeling every time I am there! I have such wonderful memories of Norfolk from my childhood and every time I go back I am able to remember even more. Hopefully it won't be seven more years before we are back!
